As NT 4.0 does not support Plug and Play for pc cards, one has to use software such as Systemsoft's Cardware or Unicore's Cardware. I do not want to spend the $60 -$70 and was wondering if there are any other alternatives out there - preferably free?
Specifically, I have a pcmcia adapter for a Compact Flash card that I need to have recognized in NT 4.0 so that I can transfer my dgital photos.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

call me crazy, but as long as NT4 drivers exist for it, you shouldn't need any third party software...

does your compact flash card have nt4 drivers specifically?

No, the CF card does not come with NT drivers. It is a Sandisk CF card, that I want to use with a pcmcia adapter (so taht I can transfre files to my lapto that runs on NT). The Sandisk adapter provides support only for Win98 and 2000. Their web site suggests using Cardwizard if the adapter is to be used with NT. Without Cardwizard, the adapter and CF card is not recognized in NT.

You can get away with using legacy drivers for some things in NT, but I wouldn't try it with PCMCIA stuff...

I'd say you're out of luck unless you upgrade your OS

As far as those cardware programs, can't say that i know of them or any alternatives. sorry.
