Im selling something over craigslist, and the guy wants to use paypal as a means of payment. Should i send the item once the payment hits my paypal account or is there something else i should watch for? Any tips?

My advice is simply to sell things locally, and not ship anything with Craigslist. Seems like Craigslist has more scams than anywhere else. And just Google Paypal problems and you will get an idea of how safe you are.......;)

I admitedly have agreed to ship a few items from craigslist listings, but there is an element of risk involved. Best thing to do would be to ship with some kind of a service that requires a signature, that way if they do try some kind of a paypal dispute you can at least show that the item was signed and delivered.

Make sure he has a confirmed address when he pays you, that covers you under their seller protection I think or is that for ebay only...just make that the address is confirmed

I have been screwed out of $300 with Paypal.

I sold some items on eBay. Seller paid with Paypal and I moved the funds to my bank account. I shipped the item via UPS (so I had tracking). The seller received the item, and left me positive eBay feedback. A month later, he files a complaint with Paypal saying he never received the item. I send Paypal my tracking number to prove I sent it. I show them the feedback he left. He claims I sent him an empty box. Paypal sides with the seller and takes $300 out of my bank account. I haven't touched Paypal or eBay since.

Get them to send you a USPS Money Order via USPS Certified Mail. Best way to buy/sell remotely on Craigslist.
