Using Outlook Express thru dsl

I have adsl service. Since this connects via a NIC I don't know how to configure Outlook Express to work. OutEx looks tries to connect by dial up. My setup uses my home phone number in an entry to satisfy the fields in properties. Therefore OutEx is trying to connect to my home phone. I don't have a dial up modem in my ADSL system (not that it would help anyway). Any advice or steerage to information would be greatly appreciated. BTW Outlook Express will live an intermitten life on my hard drive to avoid the added risk of virus attacks.

I have tried starting OutEX after being connected (to my "ALWAYS ON" connection (HAH!!)

Tell it to use the same connection as Internet Explorer.

Go to Tool/Accounts/Mail and open the properties for your mail account. Under "connection", uncheck the box for "Always connect to the internet using".

If it still doesn't work, create a new "account" and tell it to use the IE connection. I don't think you will have to though.
