Using Open Virtual Switch

Hi all, I want to make an open flow network and use the open virtual switch for my open flow switch.
I found that the OVS is built into the Linux kernel (version 3.3 or later), so I want to use this feature of Linux kernel.
but I'm a little confuse about how can I do that?("of course I should use the switch with a linux operating system with 3.3 kernel version ") but how and which model of switch should I use?
