Does anyone know if you can use the old Soundblaster Audigy front bay with the new X-fi? The bays appear to be identical... so maybe I could save myself $100 and just buy the cheapest version of the XFi XtremeMusic (of course that's assuming that the card would even allow me to use the front-port headers.

i don't know if you can, you might, but you'd have to do some serious cable modding, splicing, etc. I recommend getting the platinum, its only 70 more...

Don't waste $70+ on the Platinum. All you get is a crappy plastic IO bay and a cheap remote.

I got the X-Fi XtremeMusic but it was only $89 because it had been returned. Apparently the guy didn't have a PCI slot open to put a sound card in LOL!

It is a nice upgrade from the original Audigy but I don't think earth-shattering.
