Using Nvidia's NTUNE to overclock?

There is a feature in NTUNE that will stress test your Nvidia based video card and determine the best "safe" overclock that your card can do. It has 2 tests, one quick one that lasts an hour or so, and another one that lasts 6+ hours.

I am thinking about doing this on by backup PC that has a 7950GT with an S1 cooling unit on it, but was wondering if anyone has any experience with this program and what type of results you would get?

RivaTuner, IMO, would be the best program for overclocking. I don't think nTune remembers OC settings on the next reboot, IIRC.

the tests with ntune dont really go anywhere, the system hangs, you get a memory dump, and thats the end of it... it just endlessly loops...

You'd be better off using Rivatuner for OC'ing the card and ATITool to test for artifacts only.

you've got problems with your pc then. i ran it successfully, although it didn't overclock very much.
