Using newer Intel supplied drivers on Asus board. Wise?

I've been having some issues with my board, which was just returned from Asus after I RMA'd it, with no work done (they said they couldn't find any problems). I think what's up is bad sensor reporting, so as well as them supplying me with a newer version of their sensor software, I wanted to try updating the chipset and Intel Management drivers to see if that gets rid of the anomalies, but the drivers on Asus's site are still the original ones from when late December last week. Intel seems to have newer chipset and MEI drivers for their boards, however. Any reason to not try installing those on my Asus board? they should be the same, right? (Although I did notice the Intel drivers are far, far smaller than anything Asus supplies, by an order of magnitude.)

Yes, I'll backup first in case I blow things up. Just wondering if anyone's tried this, and if it works?

Since so many things can change from when we release the drivers to when the motherboard manufacturers release the boards it is generally a better idea to go through them for drivers for your board. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
