using my iphone to act as a wireless dongle

Hi everyone. I have my old ihpone 3gs that currently is not on an ATT plan (upgraded). I also have an old ibook g4 without wireless connectivity, (I'm sure you can see where this is going).

I would like to be able to use the iphone to give internet connectivity to my ibook (for my kids), I have tried setting up ineternet tethering, and downloaded an app from hept.benm.at. but I am still unable to get internet tethering to work, (setting -> network -> tethering is not available.)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

clarification: I do not want to use the 3g feature(disabled), i want to use the wi-fi.

Would you like me to send you a compatible wireless card so that the iBook can have the wifi? I am being serious, PM me, it's yours for the cost of shipping.

you can get a usb wifi dongle for the ibook for like $10.

Yes, I should have mentioned that as well. A standard USB dongle would almost certainly work, depending on the OS version. What I have is the internal card, system pull from a same-era powerbook.
