I currently use VPN software to log into my work's corporate network and it creates a network adapter for the connection. But the problem is that this new "corporate" connection because the default connection for everything on my computer. Is there a way I can tell certain applications to use the corporate connection (Outlook) while others use my computers home network connection (Firefox)? Thanks for the help.

Nope. The VPN software won't allow you to do what is called "split-tunneling" which is what you're describing. It's a HUGE security risk.
