Comcast lets you use up to three modems per subscription. Anyone know how to do that if i can get a valid account number and stuff? For example, your in college and they have T3 but they wont let you use irc or kazaa. They block it through hardware, not software, meaning no possible way for you to use mirc or kazaa or even bittorrent! (oh noes, not my bittorrent!!)

So my parents have cable internet at home and i want to use it at the apartment condo, how do i do that if i can get the account ID and stuff to logon to Comcast network? How do i set it up?

I had no idea you could use multiple modems, doesn't seem to make sense. Why would they let you do this, I could just share my account with my neighbors who have their own modems.

You might be able to use more than one, in one house. But no way can you have 3 modems in three seperate places.

It doesn't work like dial-up if that's what you're trying to do.

a cable modem gets a valid IP address using its own MAC address. it will receive one only if ISP's DHCP is configured to lease that MAC an IP off of their pool.

for one thing, you have to PAY for each additional IP address, or at least you did when my parents were running their computers that way. it was $5 for each additonal IP.
