Using Microsoft Software with a Logitech Mouse

Anyone know if it's possible to use software for microsoft's mice with a logitech mouse? I have a cordless logitech optical and I love it but the one thing that annoys me if logitech's control of the scroll wheel. It's so much smoother scrolling with a microsot mouse than it is with mine. With the logitech, the scroll is jumpy and goes too far per turn. It would be great if I could use microsoft's software.

I don't think it's a software problem. My logitech mouse scroll wheel scrolls in spurts as well. It used to be much smoother. I think it's just wear and tear.

It can't be a wear and tear problem cause my mouse is two weeks old but thanks for the input.
