Using Microphone on Teamspeak

I have been trying to setup Teamspeak on my computer so friends and I can communicate during gaming sessions. However they said I break up a lot and basically sound like crap. I tried headphones with an attached microphone and a regular stand-alone microphone. They said both sound bad. Do you guys think its my sound card? I have an onboard AC97 sound card. Any ideas?

yeah but i can't get it to work...i tried sound recorder to no avail. it works in TS but just sounds like crap. like a lot and i do mean a lot of background noise. speakers are far from microphone as well...

First of all dont use the auto activate for you r mic. Put it on "press a key" to talk. GO into your Activate local test in the settings.

try and configure it tehre and you should be able to hear yourself. Try changing the record volume of your mic in the windows volume control panel. Make sure to Mute the playback also of the mic.

Go back into TS and try changing the input/output volumes....also try changing to one of the GSM 16bit codec's.

Just to make sure the mic is working and sounds good try using the mic with a different program and see if its clear.
