I am using light mayonnaise instead of that expensive Arctic Silver 2 thermal compound. Mayo has excellent thermal conductivity, it's cheap and available locally, and gives off smell-clues when the CPU starts overheating.

To apply it, wipe off any Arctic Silver 2 you may have on your CPU and heatsink, and start applying mayo like you would on a sandwitch. When you have a layer of moderate thickness, place the heatsink on top of the CPU. Lock the heatsink in place and power up your PC.

* Please note that quality of mayo varies and your overclocking results will also varry.

I knew mayo had some sort of purpose other than application for food. Thanks for the tip.

Gee and I was impressed when we repaired a table to fix the finish when my Aunt set a hot pot directly on it!

Never the less, I am betting that once that mayo rotts you cwertainly will get a smell!! lol...

hmm wonder what this does to your warrenty!

I actually know a person who tested Peanut Butter, Mayonase, and Arctic Silver 1... the Mayonase was always within 3 degrees Celsius of the AS, but the Peanut butter got it's arse kicked hehe

You know that mayo will dry out much faster don't you. You better have a jar of it by the PC.
