Okay so my internet has been having problems and I was unable to resolve the issue with comcast even after trying a different modem so I have an appt scheduled for next friday.
But in the meantime I'll have no internet so I asked my neighbor if he'd let me use his wifi in the meantime so I could connect my laptop and he gave me his password and I'm all set.
What I'd like to do is set up my laptop to share my neighbor's wireless connection via my laptop's ethernet port and connect that to the wan port on my router and hence share it with the rest of my wired network devices.
I did this a long time ago with a Windows XP laptop and I remember it being a pain in the ass so I have no idea if this has gotten any better with Windows 7.
If there are any Linux Distros that make this easier, I'm open to the idea.
The router I'm using is a Buffalo router and the stock firmware is just like DD-WRT. And yes I know that DDWRT can be set up to be used as a repeater but I see of no way to do that with a secured wifi connection.
