Using Laptop LCD on Desktop Graphics Card

Anyone know how (if its possible) to interface an old laptop LCD with a Graphics card interface?
Any pointers on building a driving logic to interface between the two?
 
We've had that question. You need a graphics card with an LVDS interface, you need to modify the graphics card's BIOS to output your very panel's exact timing on the LVDS port, and finally you need to build not only the interface logic but also the power supply and backlight inverter circuitry.

In other words: Forget it.
 
Or just buy a controller card to allow VGA input from your video card. The reason this isn't ever a great idea is because the controller cards cost more then desktop LCDs when all is said and done.
 
You'd still have to do all the steps I listed above - only that you'd then have to teach the controller board, not the graphics card.
 
no, you misunderstood me. They have end user controller boards that are already made to work with certain panels. You just find a controller card that handles your panel, and it has VGA/SVIDEO, etc on it already. You just attach the panel and backlight inverter to the controller card, hook up the video to the PC and its done.
 
... if you happen to have a panel for which there already is a customization of that controller board available from its maker. If not, then you're back to square one.

Long answer: Yes but you wouldn't want to.
