using internet connection on the go..

So i took a train this weekend for spring vacation, and this woman was talking to me about how she had verizon broadband and if she wanted she could put the software on everybody's laptops and they could just use her internet connection. I was wondering if this was true/possible without having the actual usb stick or network adapter from the said companies (verizon, sprint, etc-the companies that have those internet connections wherever you have cell phone service).

Just wondering to see if i could steal a connection while on my next trip!

thanks

i believe it is againts the TOS of verizon to share the connection, but unless u setup a wireless network and use a computer as a router it woudnt be possible, the verizon software alone will not get u online without the actual modem..either usb or PCMCIA.
