Using iMac for Xbox One Monitor @ Real Estate Pipeline Office w/ Multiple iMacs

At our office each station is equipped with an iMac, we're looking for a little bit of team building and were thinking of using our newish mid-2013 iMacs as a gaming monitor for those stations that have an Xbox One.

Is there a way that our real estate pipeline office can use these newish iMacs as a monitor? From the information I have seen that's probably not the case. It looks like you could do it with the older iMacs and not the new ones.

I'm sure this sounds absurd but we're not looking to add more monitors or screens to our desk and still be able to play some Halo 5 (when it comes out) and Halo MC with fellow coworkers for the time being.

Is there a direct cable that could achieve this (and use the iMacs speakers) for sound?

No, I don't think there's a way to do it. Even if you worked at a dentist's office.

It seems that with Target Display Mode (the video in on the iMac), you must use a Thunderbolt > Thunderbolt cable to connect the 2 devices, and those 2 devices must be Macs.

No. Unlike the earlier 2009/2010 27" iMacs which used Mini DisplayPort, iMacs since the mid 2011 require a Thunderbolt port/cable for Target Display Mode.

It is a shame too since the monitor is nice. It is the main reason I won't buy one since you can't use it like a regular monitor.

I wish there was a middle man in the mac desktop lineup. Seems like they have mac mini in the under $1000 range and the Mac PRO in the above $3000 range but nothing in between.

I guess the iMac is supposed to fill the gap but since I can't share the monitor with anything, that is not the product for me.

I have another PC, game system, satellite tv, and a chromecast. Would be nice to be able to connect that to one single monitor, two at the most.
