using GNUPG for private/public keys

I noticed in my webhost that I can setup private/public keys using GNUPG in cpanel. I made a set, but do not really know what is the next step to using them. I have enigmail for a openpgp plugin for thunderbird but am not sure how to make it work with the new keys i just created. I woudl like to use these keys but am not sure how to impliment them as part of my e-mail. I also have squirrel mail and a few others i can use for a webmail app for the server but would rather just have the server be host of sorts for the keys instead of the e-mail host also. Is this possible?
