Have a $50 Visa gift card that seems difficult to use online. It seems retailers only let you select 1 form of payment, including PayPal as I've come to discover, and since the total purchase price is greater, I'm stuck not being able to use it. What am I doing wrong?

Do you HAVE to use it online?

All the deals are online only, especially the ones that don't tax on top of it like eBay sellers. Which is why I mentioned PayPal.

I also see an Xbox deal at Walmart.com only.

I've started just instantly buying amazon gift cards with any visa/amex/etc gift cards I get (usually from rebates). Less of a pain, and I'll eventually spend the money on Amazon anyways. You can buy them in any dollar amount and it just goes into your giftcard balance on amazon, so no codes to enter at checkout or anything.

I generally use them on Amazon- get a GC for the entire amount, or use them in grocery store and just write the new amount on the card if I don't use it in one transaction.

I think the Staples site is the only one I've encountered that lets you use Visa/MC/Amex gift cards plus another form of payment.

This is exactly what I do.

Good idea. I tried using an Uber gift card the other day at a restaurant and it was declined. I'll probably just get Amazon credit for it.

Okay, so buy whatever you want online using your regular CC and then just use the gift card in store buying groceries or something. In the end you're netting the exact same money spent.
