Using front/back audio at the same time?

I just have a quick question, building a new system and want to know something :

Is it possible to plug my headphones into the front audio ports on my case and the speakers into the back, and have both work? Not neccesarily at the same time, but I just want both to work. I'd like to be able to have my speakers set up for music, and then when I want to play a game, hook my headphones into the front ports without unplugging the speakers from the rear. Is this possible? Thanks in advance.

if your sound card/onboard sound supports at least 4 channel surround, you should be able to do this.

Frontx.com has a front audio cable assembly that will disconnect the rear (line out) jack when you plug in headphones and when you pull the headphones, the speakers will be connected again (CPX090) and you will also need CPX073, or you can drill a hole in your own slot cover plate, etc. to mount the rear jack). Or you can rig your own with parts from Radio Schlock.

And BTW, if I never hear the phrase "Quick Question" again, it will be too soon!!! What, are you all telesales/pollster types out there???
