using ffdshow to resample/resize mpeg4 video

is it possible to use ffdshow to resample an mpeg4 video?
if i set the output res to my desktop res, the effect is of zooming the video to that size, but keeping the dpi the same, so i get a zoomed up portion of the center of the video...

any ideas?

Try this setup. It helps my dvds stop looking like ass on my 2405FPW.
