Using existing host to host another domain?

edro

Lifer
Lets say I have abc.com and I also have def.com. I have hosting for abc.com, but I also want def.com to use a subdomain on abc.com's hosting.

Sooo... if I type in def.com, it is actually using def.abc.com. I know I can do this.

Now, is there a way I can prevent the address bar from showing def.abc.com, and to just show def.com?

Thanks!

Oh yeah, I'm using cPanel.

Which web host are you using?

Do you have a shared or resellers account?

If it's shared cPanel based, do you have any "addon" domains?

Ah ha! I think I figured it out, or at least a partial way to do it. On my domain register, I setup the URL forwarding to use URL Frame instead of URL forward.

Seems to work that way.

Thanks for the response though.

Do you have a dedicated IP address? If you do then, in the DNS record point def.com to the IP for abc.com and then have a script that will direct the users accrodingly.

You can enable it with cpanel but you need your host to give you an addon credit. If not, the default is 0 and you will not be able to do it. I pay an extra $10 a year to do it with my host.
