using event log to find out why hardware locks?

I recently installed windows 2000 and I must say I'm VERY impressed with it. Probably the best OS I've ever ran. I have a problem with Quake 3 crashing almost every time I play. Happens about 20 minutes into a game. Is there a way I can run event log to help me locate what the problem might be?
