Using electrical outlet for internet connection.

Ok here is my problem.
In my current house, the internet comes into the house on the ground floor. From the modem it goes to a router. I wanted internet cable upstairs and was told I would need another modem which would be like a 2nd account. I was fine with this.

The cable guys came and assesed the situation and told me they couldn't run a line upstairs and that the cable service coming in was not going to the basement for them to split it. So their solution was wireless.

So off I go to Best Buy to get a wireless card but the Geek Squad guy there tells me to get a Powerline ethernet switch instead . He says it is better for gaming to transmit the internet from my cable modem downstairs through an electrical outlet downstairs to an electrical outlet upstairs than go wireless. So I got a Netgear 85 mbps powerline ethernet switch.

*So what is the best Powerline ethernet switch?
*Is it better than Wireless? Consider that my house is only a few years old and well insulated.
*Will the response time be worse for wireless than powerline internet trasmission?

check out smallnetbuilder.com for powerline info:

Reliability of wireless and powerline are both based on the environment so its hard to say which is better in your case.

If you are set on going to best buy, I think they got rid of their restocking fee. You can always return the powerline stuff if it doesn't work well.
