Using DWL 2100AP as a Repeater

My setup

1x WRT54G: Linksys Wireless Router (currently using)
2x DWL 2100AP: Linksys Access points.

I am currently using the Linksys Wireless Router and I have no problems what so ever.

Just as every one else, the only problem i have is that WRT54G does not cover my entire house. I got my hands on 2 DWL-2100AP for free, now I see an option that says that I can use it as a repeater.

I changed the ip of the DWL 2100AP from 192.168.0.50 to 192.168.0.103 so that I can set it up as a repeater.

However, it does not seem to 'repeat' anything. Can anybody help?

How Can I setup those wireless access points to 'repeat' my signals so that i can have full coverage?

The DWL-2100AP is a very flexible Access Point it can be configured to any of the 5 Wireless Mode including Repeating and WDS (L=Wireless Network - Configuration Modes.]http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Modes.html[/L] ).

Read the Manual and configure the Access Points (The WRT54G can work as is nothing need to be done to it).

Sorry I don't have my 2100AP connect it right now, but I think all you have to do is set it to repeater mode and put in your Linksys MAC Address.

That's what I did exactly. However I don't think it is repeating anything. The signal range did not expand at ALL.

Hopefully you did not put it at the end of the range. I.e. the repeater needs a good signal in order to work well. So, put it at about 66% of the original max. range.

As an Example, if you lose the functional signal (without a Repeater) at 60 feet put the repeater at 40 feet. The repeater cuts the signal into half but it should transmit further (depending on the environment) 40-50 feet so all together you should have 80 functional feet.

If you have a Wireless Laptop load Netstumbler onto it.

Run the program, and see what are the available signals, and their strength. By doing so, you might be able to find the best locations.

I think the crux of my question is this...

Linksys' IP address is as follows 192.168.1.1 (as you guys all know). However, the IP address of the DLINK AP is 192.168.0.50.
I'm wondering if there is a problem with this picture.
Also, there is the question of DHCP and all that jazz..

Turn off dhcp and give the dlink an IP similar to the linksys, ie 192.168.1.10, select the "AP repeater" option and enter in the mac address of the linksys.
