using different RAM size for OCing

Getting a 35W Mobile Athlon 2400+, using it on an Abit NF7-M (3 Dimm slots)

currently there is 2x128 Crucial PC-3200 with an AXP 1700+..

I also want to upgrade to 512mb of RAM, so can I just get 1x256 Crucial PC-3200? I'm not sure if it would be ok to OC with different size RAM even though it would be same brand and speed. 😕

RAM/FSB OCs with 2 sticks is generally slightly worse than with 1 stick. That would be the only concern really. You may end up at slightly lower RAM speed and / or slightly higher latencies if your intention is to run 2x256. Also the nForce2 doesn't like 512M DIMMs as much as 256meg DIMMs, so even if you're only using 1 DIMM to get your 512, you may end up with a little lower RAM/FSB speed.

cool, thanks. All I want is a rock stable 2.2Ghz overclock that will run cool on my Thermaltake Volcano 11, just wanted to make sure the odd memory sizes wouldnt keep me from doing that.
