okay, I know this question is probably asked a lot, but can anyone tell me what differences I will expect with running an AGP 4x video card (e.g. geforce ultra) on a AGP 2x, 4x, and 4x PRO motherboard. I currently have a 2x board and don't want to purchase a new 4x board, so will there be a huge performance drop?..or is there any way I can tweak settings for it to perform very similarly to a AGP 4x motherboard

Also, what's the best video card overall for an AGP 2x board with an Athlon 700 (Asus K7M), for games/video/graphics in terms of speed and quality (for windows 98)

Thanks,
rich t

Currently there is no material difference in performance between AGP2x and AGP4x.

AGP Pro 4x simply adds more power pins to the AGP slot, and has NO difference in performance with AGP4X.

There is a slight difference when going from AGP x 1 to AGP x 2, and little/no difference when going from AGP x 2 to AGP x 4. The biggest difference comes from going from PCI to AGP when using T&L equipped cards.

So to answer your question: don't worry about it.
