Using default Monitor Driver

If you use the default monitor driver instead of the one that came with your lcd, would that hurt it at all? I mean color wise. Would I notice a difference using one driver over the other? The reason I ask is when I use the one from viewsonic it only allows me to play bf2 at 60hz when running at 1280x1024. When I use the default one I can run at 75hz.
 
It'll make no difference except maybe for available resolutions and refresh rates. Of course you can manually set those yourself.

Also if you have a CRT use 1280x960 instead of 1280x1024 since the latter is the wrong aspect ratio.
