Using Crossovers and High Pass / Low Pass filters in my car stereo...

I'm just wondering how I would go about making this work...

My component speakers have a frequency responce range of 59 Hz - 25 KHz

If my Amp has a high pass filter of 50 - 250 Hz (I don't know what the " - 250 means) doesnt that mean that my speakers will still be getting all the frequencies it can't handle between 50 -58 Hz? Or does the - 250 mean that I can select where I want the frequency to cut off and tell it to only let frequencies of 59 and up?

Now my Subs can handle a frequency of 26 Hz - 150 Hz. I guess the same question applies here.

This part above seems confusing to me, so I'm going to try to make it easier.

If I have 2 amps, can I set one amp to have a high-pass filter at 100 Hz (that way the components wont play anything that will dammage them), then have the 2nd amp to have a low pass at 100 Hz, so the subs play everything below 100 and I won't dammage the subs?

Then I also have to ask, how do you select the cut off frequency for the HP and LP filter, and how do you find the optimim cut off point? (I just picked 100 Hz out of the blue.)

The high pass filter has an adjustable cutoff point. Anything below the frequency you select will not be sent to the speakers.

Your subs can basically play any frequencies between x and y Hz (too lazy to scroll back up.)
