Using Credit Card to get new CPU??

Is it true that certain credit card companies will replace your burned CPU for a new one?

I'm just curious, becuase I think I recall seeing that somewhere. If this is the case, then I'll always buy my CPUs and burn them up. Hehe Make more keychains.

But seriously. Any of you ever use this tactic to replace a chipped/non working CPU before?

It all depends on your credit card company, usually it's only an extension of 1-2 years after the products initial manufacturer's warranty is over with.

Most larger credit card companies who offer VISA and MasterCard offer this feature. But I do think you have to PAY using that credit card in order to be eligible.

Seems like no one else has used this method before? I checked my CCs and they all pretty much have a product protection plan that covers damage to products purchased using their CC. But I'm just curious if this covers the CPU or not. I don't want to call to raise any flags over there.

techbargins.com has some info somewhere in there on CC's that price match or some that give extended warrany on items.
