Using Car Paint on My Computer Peripherals/ Laptop?

I like how Voodoo computers paints there hardware. Anyone have any advice on how I could use auto paint on my logitech elite keyboard/dell 1800fp lcd/ compaqx1000 lappy????

I work with painters but I have no idea myself. Good idea though, I'd like to paint some stuff myself!

very carefully? j/k 😛

I'd do what the auto people do and use a lot of tape and plastic to cover vital parts. Probably take apart what you can and spray those seperatly.

Post pics if you do I wanna see how it looks. What color are you going for?

I had my side window and blow-hole cut out on my Addtronics 7896 by a auto body shop.
I then had them paint it with auto paint.
The steel portion of the case has a mirror-like black finish but I don't know if you can use auto paint on plastics without mixing a lot of flexing agents into it.

I'm thinking they probably paint it before assembly. Dont forget about overspray, I'm pretty sure that can fvkc up your internals. If you still want to try make sure you tape up as many fan openings/ air inlets or anything that'll let paint into the lappy.

Good luck,

FreAk😀

Be careful on the type of auto paint you use. The solvents in lacquer paints will dissolve some plastics. Acrylic enamels should be okay, though.

Two words of advice: Ventilation and layers. Make sure you have some type of filtering breathing apparatus on and paint in layers. To get a really nice glossy finish start with a white or silver primer then add layers of color then add a clear coat finish. This will take you awhile to do but you will love the results. Oh and less paint is better than more paint. You don't want streaks.
