Using both inputs on a LCD monitor

I want to have both analog and digital cables connected to my LCD display. I have the Sapphire/ATI 9100 card (former 8500LE).
If I connect both only the analog works. The digital doesn't show. If I disconect the anaglog and connect the digital it's fine. Then when I re-connect the anaglog I can switch back and forth between the 2 inputs (anf yes there is a difgference).
If I do a restart all is ok, BUT, if I shutdown and power back up I' back to square one, only the anaglog.

Any ideas? I can't find anything in ATI's control panel.
BTW, the driver is 7.9 (the latest I believe anyways, it's hard to keep ATI's numbers straight).

I'm running 2k

How about "It's not designed for that, why, dear god, WHY are you doing it?"

You have one display and one system feeding it. Use one input - the DVI - and leave the other one the hell alone. You're just confusing both your LCD (determining which input to use) and your computer (is there one screen or two?)

The monitor (Planar PL190M) has the ability to switch between the anaglog and digital input. Second, I need the anaglog available for my KVM switch when I hook up other computers to work on (as oposed to setting up another monitor, mouse and keyboard and swapping cables).
Yes, I know the digital is better (that's why I bought a video card with a DVI out and monitor with a DVI input!

It's called flexibility.

Edit - Text. - is that how your setup is?

Just don't feed your main rig's video through the KVM. Or upgrade to one that has DVI. Also, don't allow your monitor to "auto-select" the input. Force it to DVI.

That is (more or less) the way it is setup. It's only a 2 port KVM switch though.

I don't think there is a 'auto detect' option. It seems to default to analog and disregards the DVI input if both are connected. I wonder if it is a monitor issue?
I will e-mail Planar to see what they say.

I use both my analogue and DVI connections on my 9700NP, I use the DVI mode for the main PC and analogue for my backup PC,all I need to do is switch between DVI and analogue mode from the front of the LCD OSD controls.Could be something to do with the KVM switch.

Defaulting to analog would be an awfully dumb way for Planar to set things up. Give 'em an email or a call.

It works, I have both on my syncmaster, and when it boots up it goes directly to digital. It does not want to display when only the dvi cable is hooked up. If you hook both up its happy.

I also have a Planar with dual inputs (PX171M). They are both plugged in. I use the OSD to select analog or digital, and it stays (usually digital) until I change it again, regardless of reboots, etc. Have you tried using the OSD? I don't the vidcard drivers really matter that much in this situation.

I don't know where the problem is. The video card or the monitor.
I am using the OSD to try to switch, but digital isn't there unless I unplug the analog, wait for the digital to be reconized, then plug the analog back in. Then I can switch, but after a reboot all is lost. Only Analog. Seems to me it's he monitor. I have e-mailed Planar.
