My cousin was over today, he is in sixth grade.

His Mom (my aunt) only uses Macs (shes one of those people that wants to slobber all over Steve Jobs' penor), so that's all she has in their house.

He wanted to look up something on my computer, so I said sure go ahead. He goes upstairs, and comes back 30 seconds later saying "I don't know how to get to the internet".

It turns out that he only knows how to use MacOSshit and is completely incapable of using a Windows based computer because they only have MacOSshit at home.

Congratulations Mom, because of your Apple cult bullshit your son doesn't know how to use 95% of the computers in the world and is at a disadvantage compared to everyone else his age.

Should I call the CPS on her?

I would sooner call the kids school and find out if he's failing.

My kid is in 1st grade... they have "computer lab" .. and all their labs are Windows based PCs.

I find it hard to believe he's in 6th grade and never encountered a Windows PC.

Hell.. even all the local library's are Windows PCs.

I keep IE "clean" so that anyone who uses my computer doesn't see all of the shit I browse through. I'm part of the Opera user Master Race so all of the good stuff is bookmarked in there (and no one knows what the hell Opera is so they don't click it :sneaky:).

Nobody should learn a computer by pressing buttons like a monkey. That goes for Apple, or MS. At both of the schools my daughter went to, computer class consisted of learning how to use proprietary apps. Instead of learning how a computer works, and general principles, they learned to push buttons. That's just about worthless. They might as well have made it an Xbox class. At least then it would be fun :^S

How a computer works? As in they should be learning how to code?

Learning how to use excel/word, even if just pushing buttons, are still useful skills. What exactly are you advocating teaching them (an actual example)?

Teaching what the parts are, and what they do. Learning to code is a stellar idea also. That gets them creating something, and hones logical thought processes.

Let me guess, his mom is a beacon of technical expertise and computer knowledge too, right? Or, is she just a hippie-wanna-be-kinda-douche like?

To be fair, this is his desktop:
The kid was probably traumatized by all the weird sex with vegetables shit he found already open. (And yes, IE is at the base of the cock, but let's face it... If I was that kid I'd be too traumatized by this to even see it)

People with this degree of hatred are usually afraid of something. That or drunk. My entire office of a couple hundred people have a choice of computers. 70% choose macs. Its a better computer. Either you adapt and change or you are left holding an empty cup.

It's only 80% of the computers on the desktop that are MS based. Expect that Apple partition to grow exponentially. Enjoy working with a bunch of fuddy duddy's programming in Fortran and muttering about y2k.

Apple guys have been saying that for years.
