I'm gonna be taking a cross country trip on my motorcycle and I was thinking if I could log my location data I that I could use the gps log combined with the pictures time stamp to geo tag the pictures after the fact. Some quick googling reveals that this can be done.

Whats the best software to use on my phone to do this? Will it interfere with google navigator? Whats the best PC software to batch apply the geo tags to the pics?

If you have the GPS turned on, and the feature enabled in Camera, all pictures taken with be Geo-Tagged automatically. Should interfere with Google Nav and you don't need any special software to apply it, only to remove that meta data later if you wanted.

I dunno about other phones, but on my Droid the standard Camera app has an option to disable/enable storing the gps location. I assume that's what you mean by geotagging?

It shouldn't affect navigation in any way.

I guess I should clarify. I'm talking about creating a log file with the phone so that I can tag pictures taken with a stand alone camera, not the phone's built in camera. I've heard theres software that will use the GPS data in the log file to geo tag the photos based on the time they were taken.

edit: Mods maybe this should be in the camera section.

ooh I understand now, you just want to log the gps locations that you took pictures at but using a separate camera for the actual photo.

Hmm I'm sure there is a way to log gps coords on your phone, don't know about attaching them with a piece of software though. Sorry can't help much.

Yup thats it. It seems like a neat idea considering my droid's pictures are not nearly as good as even my old point and shoot, and I'm too cheap to buy a dslr. There is a GPS logger app for android, I just need to make sure it doesn't conflict with google navigator. I guess I'll just try to use them together on a test run tomorrow and see what happens.
