Using an SMC Router

I have a question about using those DSL/Cable modem routers. Can they work w/ services like @Home's cable network? I've noticed that to make the computer connect, you have to give it a specific name. Will these routers (like the SMC one) be able to provide NAT services?

I really don't know much about this. So, it would be helpful if someone could also post up some links regarding this topic.

Thanks.

yes, it lets you place a CV-xxxx or AT-xxxx name depending on what service you have an runs firewall + NAT so your computers are safe. I like SMC a lot due to the print server feature, finally got rid of my intel print server since it's another box in the way..

Yes, the SMC will work with @Home, you will need to follow the instructions closely and/or call for support to set it up. I really the like my Barricade, the print server feature is cool.

Hey light sped-

They've got a bunch of 411 over at 8wire.com. I've found that they seem to know more about networking and are more up to speed than any other place. Give it a go.
