Using an old network printer with Vista Home Premium

I have been trying to use "Add a Printer" in Windows Vista for an old HP880C Deskjet printer that is on my home WiFi network. The problem happens after I select the driver for the printer and try to print a test page. This ends in an error that provides no information. Does anyone have any information or experience with this type of problem?

Make sure you have the vista driver installed. If you still can't get it to connect then connect the printer directly to the system. This will allow the system to ID it then it may have a better time of seeing it on the network.

Thanks "mpilchfamily" for your response. I finally got it to work by selecting a driver for the HPDeskjet882C and it worked. I can now print.
