Using an Arctic Cooliing CPU fan with an Asus A8V

Has anyone tried using an Arctic Cooling CPU cooler with an Asus 939 A8V board? The heatsink has a dedicated mounting bracket that requires removing the original stock fan bracket from both sides of the board.

I've tried removing the top-board fan bracket and mounting it with the stock Asus under-board bracket and it works, but there is no positive stop to regulate the exact position of the heat sink. I'm concerned about proper orientation to the processor, as well as too little or too much pressure.

Any suggestions?
