I am thinking of upgrading my motherboard to a Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2 Rev 2. This board has 4 dimm slots available for dual channeling. The specs on Gigabytes site state that the first two slots can be dual channeled with either SS or DS ram. However, the 2nd two slots have to be SS ram in order to dual channel them.
I currently have 2 Kingston Hyperx 512MB PC2700 matched ram chips and 2 Corsair TwinX 512MB matched chips. This would give me 2GB of dual channeled ram if I can use them all.
Does anyone know if either the Corsair or the Kingston chips are single sided? I can't find anything on the internet with that much detail to let me know.
Or, another question, would it be better to use 1gb dual channel or 2gb non-dual channel ram...just in case all the ram is double sided.
Thanks
REX
