using additional ram

albeit i'm not an avid gamer... the most gfx intensive game i have atm is hitman contracts even though i have 256mb nvidia 6800 and 1gb of ram.

i figured the additional ram would help with my dvd to divx conversion process but i'm currently using flacmpeg encoder and the most memory it will use is ~200 even on its max priority. Is it being cpu limited? or is there a video encoding program that will be able to better take advantage of this additional ram

currently using a 3.0ghz intel 6xx series proc

i think the highest ram usage i've achieved so far is around 500mb

It's CPU limited, not RAM limited. More RAM will not help.

Yeah, video encoding tends to be more CPU limited than anything else.

MMORPGs, some newer 3d games, photo editing, 3d development...
