using active desktop backgrounds?

my kids love the variety in the win me active desktop selections.

I don't like them to use active desktop as it seems to create problems.

is there a way to convert the active desktop background file to a simple bmp or such file that could then be used the old fashioned way?

if you just mean the picture files open them up w/ paint then save them as a bmp file...
