Using a TV as a monitor, not using full screen, help?

I bought a 1080p tv and am trying to use it as a monitor part time as well, but I am having trouble, it is hooked to my 8800GTS through an RGB cable (the blue one) with an adapter. But I cannot get it to do the full screen, when centered the far right side of the screen is not visible as if it was broadcasting in a larger resolution?

so yeah anyone able to help?

are you using s-video out to component video on your tv?

it is probably because with just one cable (which ever color) it is acting as a composite analog video out. i believe that is a lower resolution than your tv. you should try connecting to gts to the monitor using DVI-O or S-Video out to component video using all RGB cables to the back of your tv. .

As mentioned above, you should ideally use a DVI/HDMI converter which will allow you to keep a digital signal to your TV. This would probably eliminate the need to align the output to fit on your display. If you want to stick to an analog (VGA) signal, you just need to find out where the alignment options are in your graphics card's driver software. I would first experiment with different resolutions to find out what is the optimal one for video output. Your TV's manual is a good place to start, the specifications section will almost always list optimal resolution to use.

Good luck!

ummm.....did you change the resolution to the native resolution of the tv? i have an 8800 gt running a 42 inch hdtv downstairs via VGA cable with no issues. but i am also using windows 7...
in reality your video card should be automatically adjusting to the native frequency, or at least thats always been the case (this was the case for the two computers i have done it with, one xp and one 7). make sure that you have the latest drivers for the gpu. along with everything gsaldivar said. if you have hdmi use it.
