Planning to use this older cooler [still in good condition] on a GA-EP45-UD3P... will it be good enough or should I get the Thermaltake Ultra... which many are using now? Save the old or just get a new one?

At stock speeds it is fine. It is what I'm using with a QX9770.

I'm not sure how good it will be if the chip is oc'ed

Use the old one, if it doesn't work well enough for you, then replace it.

this. even if it isnt good enough, a new cooler isnt incredibly expensive anyway (35-50 bucks avg). just try it out, and if it isnt good enough then go buy a tuniq tower and call it a day

The Big Typhoon is still one of the best air coolers around, it just fell out of favor when all the tower-style coolers popped up with the Tuniq Tower/TRUE and started getting left out of reviews.

I had one on my first C2D build and really liked it, unfortunately I took the tape off the backplate and it was fused to my P5N-E (worst mobo I've ever owned).

I might just go ahead and use it again on the q9550 and with GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P. BTW I was thinking of getting this

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) $69 x 1
it is $59 I think and a DDR2 1066... would a DDR2 1200 be a better overclocker? just wondering... I do not mean to be off tangent here. I like to get a new one as well but I thought since it look so new why throw it out.... wife aint gonna like the upcoming dec cc bill.... 8)
