Using a superheated knife to cut and sear steaks from a hunk of meat

So I was watching this crazy Russian cutting lighters and oranges with a heated knife and it got me to thinking: Would it be possible to superheat a knife and use it to cut a steak from a hunk of meat and simultaneously sear the steak? Skipping the searing step, and putting the steak directly into the oven/broiler/whatever?
