Hi all ---

I have a nice Socket A heatsink left over. It worked great on my Athlon XP 2800+

It seems to me that if I had a longer retention clip this heatsink could be installed on my AM2 board. I'm not overclocking my X2 4600 so all I need is something that functions. The thermal ratings of these 2 CPUs are similar enough

Anyone have any experience in this?

I presently am using a CoolerMaster Hyper TX2 heatsink with my 65w X2 4600 but I want to move the TX2 to my overclocked E2180

Thanks!

I wouldn't rely on a Socket A cooler on a K8. Mind you the power ratings are similar. My greater concern would be the contact and pressure exerted on the cpu.

Get yourself a 10$ K8 cooler or an OEM K8 cooler off ebay for cheap.
