I currently have a 120 gig Seagate with an 8MB cache 7200 RPM spindle.

If I install this 3 gig hard drive (seagate 2 mb cache and 5400 RPM) specifically for the page file, will it bottleneck my system at all?

yes, that would probably be slower.... keep it on the faster of the drives. It could help if you had a second 7200rpm 8mb drive to put the page file on, but of course not many of us have this option ;-)

Access to the pagefile will be slower, so if you do swap it'll slow the system down more than normal. Just leave it system managed and you'll be fine, if you swap a lot spend $50 and get some more memory.

It would be slower for the pagefile but you might gain because of less read and writes from your main drive
and if you have your pagefile up front on the slower drive it might not be all that slow
give it a try, it not to hard to try different things.
