Using a router as a switch only

I have netgear WGT624 that i use as my router for all my computers, but before i bought my laptop i had a netgear RP614. most of my computer are hooked up in one room, but in the other end of the house i have one computer that is wired in, but now i have an xbox down at that end of the house and want to use a switch to divide my connection, can i use the 4 port switch on the netgear RP614 as a regular switch?
