Using a Power Supply w/o a Mother Board

I was wondering if/how it were posible to use an AT or ATX power supply without a motherboard.
I would like to use it to power a Col Cathode inverter that won't be inside my PC.

for ATX. short the green wire on the motherboard connector to one of the black cables and the power supply will start up.

To make life a little easier you could just get an inverter. Rasio shack has 12v inverters that you could directly wire to your cold cathode so you don't have to have a psu sitting out.

Also, bad things have been known to happen to PSUs without a load on the 5V land 3.3v lines when on. Hook some resistors up just for safety's sake.

Hey Guys Thanks for the info.

I've been..unavailable due to a snowboarding accident, so I haven't been on the forums lately.

I'll defenatley look into what you said especially about the resistors on the 3.3v and 5v rails.
