Using a Logitech Optical mouse on an Inspiron 8200 with ALPS touch pad drivers?

The default ALPS touchpad and pointing stick driver and control app doesn't let me change the mouse speed. The mouse speed and acceleration settings only affect the touch pad and the pointing stick. If I install the Logitech drivers, the mouse works great but then I lose the ALPS control app for my touch pad. I really like the ALPS software because I can set custom Gestures for the touchpad.
Is there a way for both drivers and programs to work simultaneously? Does anyone know of a work around? Thanks in advance.
