Using a Logitech bluetooth mouse with built in bluetooth

I nabbed a logitech MX900 bluetooth mouse intending to use the mouse on the go as my R50p has built in bluetooth. So far, it works fine except for one annoying detail. The bluetooth configures with almost effortless ease, the profile gets set up correctly and your up and running in about 2 mins. The mouse is fast and responsive and goes for an insane amount of time in a single charge of batteries. Couldn't be happier with the mouse.

But the one annoying detail? the fkn driver software. I need the logitech software to configure the extra mouse buttons on my mouse the way I like them. But, the Logitech drivers don't officially support anything but the logitech bluetooth hub which is huge chunk of plastic which I' not going to lug around. Now, the really clever bit is how exactly logitech determines this info. It appears the drivers will load correctly if:

a. The logitech bluetooth hub is connected to the machine
b. The logitech MX900 mouse is present.

the mouse does not need to connect to the hub. So what happens is that whenever I start up, I plug the hub in for 5 secs so the driver software is happy, and then I merrily use the mouse with the built in bluetooth with my custom button mappings for as long as I please as long as I don't restart the machine. There is no physical reason why I can't use the built in bluetooth but the driver does not allow it.

Apart from that minor niggling annoyance, everything else about the mouse is excellent.

What happens if you put the laptop into hibernation or standby? But I would also recommend a clean reboot every few days, or at least once a week.

Stand by and hibernation is fine. Just when the driver load and unloads. I generally shut down every night and boot up every morning but its still annoying.
