Using a Large LCD with a Laptop...

I'd like to equip my home office with a laptop for doing work, using the following configs:

1) use an LCD screen instead of the laptop screen

2) use the LCD screen with the laptop screen as a 2nd viewing device

Possible to do either config?

It's 100% possible. The question is: How possible is it for your equipment and what kind of image quality will you get?

Laptops have VGA out and S-video out. What resolution your laptop is capable of running at and if the LCD TV can scale down/up to support that resoltion will determine the quality.

LCD TVs are all widescreen. Some can scale down to standard VGA resolutions like 800x600 and 1024x768. Some can't.

I'd read the TV manual and check out the laptop too see if it supports dual monitors before going any further.
